The Application Services Engineer is responsible for technical support, delivery, and implementation of applications, databases, and integration software used across the organisation. The role will develop, implement, and maintain vendor supplied and in-house applications whilst assuring security and high availability.

This role will work closely with users to understand requirements and translate them into feasible technical solutions. The Application Services Engineer will also collaborate with the broader IT teams and manage external vendors to deliver application solutions that support business objectives, and ensure the timely completion of business-as-usual (BAU) and project tasks.

A well organised, client focused approach to excellent service delivery, as well as strong technical skills and analytical abilities are critical to the success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, maintain and support application solutions, database solutions and integration services.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues, providing technical assistance and expertise to staff, partners, and contractors as required.
• Monitor and improve application performance, availability, recoverability, and security.
• Serve as technical resource for assigned projects to deliver technical solutions and outcomes.
• Create and maintain relevant documentation for effective ongoing applications support and maintenance.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

• Strong technical skills and experience in supporting critical applications in large environment spanning on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
• Intermediate Transact SQL (T-SQL) skills and strong experience with SQL database products.
• Intermediate skills and experience with software programming/scripting languages and techniques.
• Intermediate skills and experience with application integration technologies.
• Intermediate skills and experience with client/server and web based applications.
• Demonstrated abilities in implementing and supporting applications in Windows Server environment.
• Advanced problem solving skills with strong abilities in diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
• Ability to assess system requirements and suggest appropriate solutions.
• Experience with project based works.
• Experience working in an ITIL based service delivery environment.
• Excellent stakeholders and vendor management skills.
• Excellent customer service skills with proven customer support experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey ideas clearly.
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage tasks effectively.
• Strong analytical abilities and critical thinking skills
• Strong technical and user documentation skills.

Desirable:

• ITIL certification.
• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• Knowledge and skills in HL7 and FHIR messaging.
• Experience with hospital processes and applications used within the healthcare sector.
• Experience with enterprise application packaging and deployment (SCCM, Citrix)
• Good understanding of networking architectures, principals and operations.
