GIS Specialist | Remote

Position: QGIS Expert Type: Hourly contract Compensation: $40 - $100/hour Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week Role Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end spatial projects using QGIS, from data acquisition to final map outputs.
• Document workflows and reasoning during spatial data processing and analysis tasks.
• Clean, organize, and validate spatial datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Manage coordinate systems, projections, and spatial references for optimal data interoperability.
• Design and style map layers for clarity, usability, and professional presentation.
• Create advanced layouts and cartographic outputs while explaining design decisions.
• Troubleshoot GIS challenges and document problem-solving approaches within workflows.

Requirements

• Strong experience in QGIS with the ability to manage complete GIS projects independently.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality spatial analyses and geospatial outputs.
• Strong understanding of spatial data formats, coordinate systems, and GIS principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain workflows and technical decisions.
• Strong data cleaning, organization, and transformation skills in GIS environments.
• Ability to identify and resolve complex issues in GIS workflows.
• Ability to work independently in a remote and collaborative environment.
