Investment Analyst

Role: Investment Analyst / AssociateSilicon Valley based VC fund looking for an Investment Analyst / Associate

Early stage Silicon Valley venture fund Frontier Ventures is looking for an Analyst or Associate to conduct target company and industry analysis (with a focus on competitive mapping and research), financial analysis and providing transactions and administrative support to our team.

Your responsibilities would include:

• Sourcing promising early stage startups. This requires understanding the early stage startup we are looking to invest in in-depth, including their product, target market, and industry
• Industry research
• Competitive benchmarking (operating and financial metrics), 
• Financial analysis, financial modeling, including forecasts and returns
• Unit economics analysis
• Analyzing product differentiation compared to competitors and alternatives with a goal to answer the question of “why would a customer pick the company we’re backing vs this competitor?”
• Preparing reports summarizing your findings and recommendations for internal and external users
• Using and providing feedback on our internally built AI tools. For example our AI competition report tool uses AI to find competitors. You don’t have to be a developer, you simply should provide feedback on our tools and let us know what works and where there is room for improvement 
• Administrative support
• Liaison with fund administrators, auditors, lawyers and other service providers
• Investor relations

All of the above typically needs to be done quickly (e.g., a full competitive mapping, research, analysis and report typically all have to be completed within a week of identifying the target investment company)

About You

• Familiar with our focus industry, Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Demonstrated knowledge about early stage startups and venture investing
• Have at least 2 years of experience working in roles such as Venture Capital, Private Equity, Investment Banking, Product Manager, Startup Founder or C Level Employee in a software startup
• Analytical, thorough, patient, and not afraid of sometimes repetitive work
• Able to draw complex conclusions about companies and industries based on your research
• Able to summarize your analysis and recommendations in a concise and informative way
• Native or fluent US English speaker
• Proficient user of spreadsheet (Excel, Google Sheets), word processing and presentation software, familiarity with tools like Crunchbase, Traxcn, Pitchbook a plus

This is a remote role. You can be based anywhere in the US (preferred) though we’re open to other locations as long as you have a deep understanding of the US market and the time zone is suitable to frequently join meetings during US business hours.

You would work directly with our founding partner, a VC veteran with 20+ years experience in this industry and with other senior team members.
