About GD Partners:
GD Partners is an emerging, forward-thinking venture capital firm focused on identifying and supporting high-potential early-stage life science companies. We partner with visionary entrepreneurs to transform healthcare through innovative medical devices and related life science products, providing both capital and strategic support to help them build and grow their businesses. We are currently seeking an experienced Venture Partner to assist with fundraising efforts, source investment opportunities, and support our portfolio companies. This is a part-time role with compensation based entirely on carry interest, offering the opportunity to benefit directly from the success of the fund.
Job Overview:
The Venture Partner will work closely with the firm’s founding team, playing an active role in fundraising efforts, identifying and evaluating investment opportunities, and providing strategic guidance to our portfolio companies. As a part-time role, this position offers flexibility while still requiring a meaningful contribution to the firm’s success. Compensation for this role is entirely based on carry interest, aligning your success with the firm’s long-term performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising & Investor Relations: Actively engage in the firm’s fundraising efforts by building and maintaining relationships with potential Limited Partners (LPs). Support the development of fundraising strategies and assist in crafting the firm’s narrative for investors.
- Networking & Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships within the venture capital ecosystem, including with entrepreneurs, co-investors, and LPs. Stay informed on industry trends to source new opportunities and provide value to portfolio companies.
- Deal Sourcing & Evaluation: Use your network and industry expertise to identify, evaluate, and source high-potential investment opportunities. Conduct thorough due diligence and offer insights to support the firm’s decision-making process.
- Portfolio Company Support: Provide strategic guidance to portfolio companies, including introductions to potential customers, partners, and follow-on investors. Mentor founders and assist with scaling strategies.
- Collaboration with Partners: Work closely with other partners and the firm’s leadership team to ensure alignment on the firm’s investment thesis, strategy, and ongoing fund management.
Qualifications:
- Fundraising Experience: Proven experience in fundraising or building relationships with institutional investors, family offices, or high-net-worth individuals is required.
- VC/Entrepreneurial Experience: A strong track record in venture capital, private equity, or entrepreneurship. Demonstrated success in sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments is essential.
- Strong Network: A well-established network within the startup ecosystem and the venture capital community, which can contribute to deal flow and investor relations.
- Strategic Insight: Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with the capacity to assess the market potential of startups and provide actionable insights.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to pitch ideas effectively to investors, portfolio companies, and other stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: A passion for innovation and supporting startups through practical guidance, business development, and growth strategies.
Compensation:
- Carry Interest: Compensation for this role is based entirely on carry interest. You will receive a percentage of the fund’s carry (profit-sharing), tied to the success of the investments made. The specific percentage will be determined based on your role and contribution to the fund’s overall success.
Time Commitment:
This is a part-time role, with an expected time commitment of approximately 10-20 hours per week, depending on the firm’s needs and the individual’s availability. The role offers flexibility, making it ideal for experienced individuals who are able to balance multiple professional commitments. As the firm grows, the time commitment may evolve in line with its investment activity and fundraising efforts.
Why Join GD Partners?
- Performance-Based Compensation: As a Venture Partner, your compensation will be directly tied to the firm’s long-term success through carry interest, offering substantial upside potential as the firm grows.
- Exciting Growth Opportunity: Play a critical role in shaping the future of a growing VC firm, sourcing and evaluating high-impact investments in the early-stage ecosystem.
- Flexible Role: Enjoy the flexibility of a part-time role that allows you to contribute meaningfully to the firm’s success without a full-time commitment.
