We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst for a client of ours to lead essential financial reporting and forecasting activities, analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide insights into financial trends and variances. This role also supports core finance processes and serves as the primary data warehouse expert for the Finance team. The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen, advanced data querying skills, demonstrated expertise in financial modeling, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
The role is remote, however preference will be given to candidates in Central and Eastern time zones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performance Analysis: Evaluate monthly business and financial performance, comparing results to previous periods and the company’s Operating Plan. Identify and communicate areas of over- or under-performance.
- Data Analysis: Write SQL queries to extract and analyze data from the enterprise data warehouse, providing context for financial results and addressing ad-hoc research needs.
- Competitive Benchmarking: Compare company performance against public competitors to identify opportunities and risks.
- Financial Modeling: Maintain and enhance the corporate financial model, regularly updating short- and long-term forecasts to support tactical and strategic decisions. Prepare summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Annual Planning: Facilitate the annual planning process by gathering input from stakeholders, updating planning scenarios, and distributing final metrics to relevant parties.
- Ad-Hoc Forecasting: Develop customized financial models and forecasts to evaluate new products or business opportunities.
- Capital Management: Support critical cash and debt management, reporting, and remittance processes as needed.
- SQL Expertise: Assist team members in crafting accurate SQL queries to source necessary data.
- Cross-Functional Support: Respond to ad-hoc data, analytic, and reporting requests to meet business needs.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative field.
Experience: 3+ years in FP&A, credit risk, or business analytics, with a strong preference for experience in lending, financial services, fintech, or banking.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and Excel is essential. Familiarity with visualization tools like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI is a plus.
Analytical Expertise: Proven experience in measuring and modeling performance metrics for vintages or cohort populations.
Business Insight: A deep curiosity about the drivers of business and financial performance, coupled with the ability to translate this understanding into actionable financial models.
Innovation Mindset: Eagerness to challenge current processes and propose more efficient or innovative solutions.
Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on critical details while identifying and communicating key financial and business drivers.
