ROLE OVERVIEW
The Director of Europe will play a key leadership role in shaping Yuvoice’s journalistic presence across the continent. This position calls for a seasoned journalism professional with a strong understanding of the European media landscape, a passion for impactful, inclusive storytelling, and the ability to guide a diverse team of contributors. The Director will lead the region’s journalistic strategy, ensure high standards of accuracy and ethics, and work to amplify underrepresented voices throughout Europe. This is a rare opportunity to drive meaningful narratives and support high-quality journalism that resonates across borders.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Journalistic Leadership: Guide Yuvoice’s news and feature reporting across Europe, ensuring quality, depth, and regional relevance.
- Content Strategy: Design and execute a journalism strategy that aligns with Yuvoice’s global mission while highlighting stories unique to the European context.
- Team Management: Lead, support, and mentor a geographically diverse team of journalists, editors, and freelance contributors.
- Story Curation & Development: Identify important issues, emerging trends, and underreported topics across Europe; commission and shape powerful stories around them.
- Ethical Oversight: Maintain the highest standards of journalistic ethics, accuracy, fairness, and accountability across all content.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with contributors, community voices, partner media organizations, and local experts across the region.
- Audience Engagement: Monitor performance, audience insights, and regional trends to guide editorial direction and deepen impact.
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in a senior journalism leadership role (e.g., managing editor, bureau chief, or regional lead).
- Deep familiarity with the European media landscape, social and political contexts, and cross-cultural dynamics.
- Strong journalistic judgment and a portfolio of high-impact work, ideally with an international or regional focus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire diverse teams of journalists across multiple countries.
- In-depth knowledge of journalistic ethics, standards, and reporting best practices.
- Strategic thinker with excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
