Role Description:
Suja is looking for a dynamic Senior Brand Manager who will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive brand growth in their assigned segment(s). They will lead critical initiatives to expand distribution, accelerate velocities, and grow market share for one of Suja Life’s portfolio brands.
Responsibilities:
Brand Strategy
- Conduct primary consumer research and leverage a variety of secondary information sources to maintain a deep understanding of category dynamics including trends, insights, shopper behavior, retailer strategies, and competitive activity
- Define strategies for Suja Life to win in the category and drive organizational alignment to a clear and motivating vision
- Develop multi-year activity roadmap to execute brand strategy and achieve company goals
Product Portfolio Management
- Analyze product performance, consumer feedback, research, and market trends to make informed, data-driven decisions and recommendations about product positioning, messaging, pricing, packaging, formula renovation, SKU prioritization/rationalization, and new item introductions within existing product lines.
- Collaborate with Innovation team to maximize success and incrementality of new product lines
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Facilitate alignment across departments to a singular brand performance narrative
- Partner with Sales, Finance, and Operations to build profitable growth plans, identify and size incremental revenue opportunities, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate closely with the Sales team to optimize selling strategies and build holistic growth plans that maximize trade and marketing investments
- Oversee cross-functional commercialization projects to ensure strategic and financial objectives are met, providing direction to troubleshoot issues and keep timelines on track
Marketing Plan Development and Execution
- Develop marketing plans that efficiently translate to brand awareness, purchase consideration, and trial
- Manage agencies and vendors to execute marketing plans, evaluate results, and drive continuous optimization
- Oversee all brand marketing tactics and creative, ensuring the right positioning is being successfully communicated to the right target
Position Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in CPG Brand Management is required with at least 1 year at or above Brand Manager. Strong preference for prior food and beverage experience, beauty and personal care experience may also be considered.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA is preferred, however, years of relevant experience will be considered.
- Complete fluency with POS data, specifically utilizing Nielsen, IRI, or SPINS, including scan and panel data to inform storytelling and strategy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to inspire confidence and rally others around a vision
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex issues to drive clarity, alignment, and action
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills complemented by a well-developed marketing intuition that enables efficient decision making
- Proactive, results-oriented self-starter with a demonstrated history of identifying opportunities and stepping into voids to make things happen
- Comfort with ambiguity, ability to operate without explicit direction, comfort with test and learn approach, skilled at making the complex simple. Not a perfectionist and prioritizes progress and action.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing market conditions and consumer preferences in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
